How we handle your data

Last updated September 30, 2026

Zipplign ("we", "us") operates the Zipplign short-form video app and website. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account data — email address, username, display name, bio, profile photo and cover photo you choose to add.
  • Year of birth — when you sign up we ask for your birthday to check that you are at least 13. The check uses the full date, but we keep only your birth year and the time you confirmed your age. The full birthday is not stored.
  • Content you create — videos (Zipps), iZipps, sounds you upload, captions, comments, messages and live room activity.
  • Activity data — likes, saves, Zipps (people you Zipp) and views, used to rank the feed and show your stats.
  • Watch behavior — when you are signed in, we record which clips you watch, how long you watch, the clip's length, whether you finished it or skipped it quickly, and where you watched it (for example, which feed). These records are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
  • Riding and the Zipplign line — when you ride a Zipp, we record that you rode it. Your profile photo and name can appear on that clip's line for other people to see, and your Zippers (people who follow you) may be notified that you rode it.
  • Live rooms and gifts — rooms you host or join, join requests, chat messages, your acceptance of the live safety rules, reports, and gifts you send or receive (which gift, its ZP price, and who sent it to whom). Live video is sent between participants' devices while the room is open; we do not record it.
  • Points, rings and rewards — your ZP balance, check-in streak, and a history of the points you earn and spend.
  • Notifications — your email and push notification settings. If you turn on push notifications, we store your device's push token, the related keys, the platform and your browser or app description so we can deliver them.
  • Identity and face verification — if you choose to verify your identity (for example, for the Blue Ring), we collect a photo of your government ID and one or two live selfies. An automated system reads the ID (document type, name, date of birth and ID number) and compares the ID photo with your selfies to check it is the same, live person. We store the ID photo, the selfies, the name, date of birth and document type read from the ID, a scrambled (hashed) version of the ID number to detect the same ID being used on more than one account, and the result. Our team may review them. They are kept until your account is deleted.
  • Business applications — if you apply for a ZippBiz business page, we collect the business name, handle, industry, what it sells, logo and header images, website, contact name, email and phone, and, kept private, its structure, tax ID (EIN), address, responsible party and any certificate you upload.
  • Security data — the IP address you last used and when you were last active, a device identifier, and signup patterns. We use these to protect accounts, stop spam and scams, and detect people who return after being removed.
  • Moderation records — reports you make or that are made about your content, automated safety flags, and actions our team takes (such as removing content or suspending an account), each with the reason recorded. These records cannot be edited.
  • Device and camera access — the camera and microphone are used only while you are recording a Zipp, verifying your identity or joining a live room. Nothing is captured in the background.

How we use it

  • To run the core features: feed, profiles, messaging, live rooms, gifts and the Zipplign line.
  • To personalise what you see and surface trending content.
  • To understand how the app is used, such as how many people are active and how clips are watched.
  • To keep the platform safe — moderating reported content, verifying identities, preventing abuse and enforcing our terms.
  • To make sure people who sign up are at least 13.
  • To notify you about activity on your account.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Content you post publicly (Zipps, profile, comments) is visible to other users. We share data with infrastructure providers who host the app, database, storage and authentication on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to operate the service. Photos and videos, including ID photos and selfies submitted for verification, may be processed by automated AI services to check for safety problems and to verify identity. We may disclose data where legally required.

Storage and security

Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with row-level access rules so that private content — direct messages, wallet balances, drafts and view records — is only reachable by the accounts entitled to it. Media files are served through short-lived signed links.

Your choices

  • Edit or remove your profile details and delete your Zipps at any time in the app.
  • Block or report accounts from any profile or clip.
  • Delete your entire account and its content — see Account deletion. Deleted accounts can be restored during a short recovery window before they are removed for good. A limited record (such as the username, email, and any safety flags) and the moderation history are kept after deletion to prevent abuse.
  • Turn email and push notifications on or off in Settings.

Children

Zipplign is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We ask for your birthday at signup and do not create accounts for people under 13. We remove accounts we learn belong to underage users. When someone under 13 is refused, we keep only a count of refusals, not their details.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Continued use of Zipplign after an update means you accept the revised policy.
